Oklahoma Teen Survives Accident That Fatally Injures Her Father

Officials Say Girl Is 'Beyond Lucky' To Be Alive

A 14-year-old girl survived an accident near Swan Valley, ID on Thursday that fatally injured her father, the pilot of the airplane.

The pair had departed from Alpine, WY on Thursday in an Aviat A1-C Husky. The pilot was 43-year-old Travis Hamilton of Edmond, OK, according to television station KOCO in Oklahoma City.

The girl dialed 911 shortly before the plane went down, according to ABC News. She was able to get herself out of the wreckage and was airlifted to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, where she was listed in stable condition.

Lt. Kevin Casper of the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office said that the plane went down in a steep mountainous area near Palisades Reservoir. He said the girl was "beyond lucky" to have survived the accident.
