Letter Groups Showing Support For The Prospective New NTSB Chair
Aviation trade associations are supporting President Obama's choice of Chris Hart (pictured) as the new chair of the NTSB. The nomination was announced last Friday.
"GAMA has worked with Chris Hart in the different roles that he has served in at the NTSB and FAA over the past couple of decades," said GAMA president and CEO Pete Bunce in a prepared statement. "As an avid general aviation pilot, he has always been willing to meet with GAMA and our members to get firsthand experience with aircraft manufacturing and new technologies, and thoroughly understands the aviation system. We hope the U.S. Senate acts quickly to confirm his nomination, and we look forward to engaging with him in this new role at the Board."
“As a commercial-rated pilot, Chris Hart understands aviation and its importance to the nation,” said HAI president MattZuccaro. “He is also the NTSB’s lead board member for helicopter safety. We share his strong desire to see improved helicopter safety and accept his challenge to make the helicopter industry even safer.
“We look forward to the Senate approving his nomination and working with him in the coming years toward our common goal.”
"NATA applauds President Obama’s nomination of Christopher Hart to be the next Chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board," said NATA president and CEO Thomas L. Hendricks. "Chris Hart is a tireless advocate for advancing safety across all modes of transportation. His continuing strong support for aviation data collection and sharing will be a key driver in helping all segments of the nation’s aviation system improve even further. His long-time dedication to these principles at both the FAA and NTSB make him the ideal candidate to be the next NTSB Chairman. NATA looks forward to continuing our strong support of the NTSB and its staff of safety professionals.”
“We are very pleased that the President has chosen to nominate a pilot as the next chairman of the NTSB,” said AOPA president and CEO Mark Baker. “With a long career in transportation and aviation safety, we believe he is particularly well-suited for this new role and we look forward to continuing our partnership with the NTSB in identifying modern and constructive ways to further improve general aviation safety.”
