Aero-TV: Maxford USA - Exquisite R/C Model Airframes

Time To Get Your Hands On That Vintage Plane You've Always Wanted To Fly...

At the AMA Expo 2016, it’s easy to see that model aircraft come in all types, shapes and sizes. ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, stopped by a display of RC model aircraft that were built to replicate full scale aircraft from the past. Jim met with Richard Sang, the CEO of Maxford USA. They specialize in scale and near-scale radio controlled model aircraft.

The first thing you’ll notice in this video is the stunning appearance of the model aircraft being displayed by Maxford USA. Sang tells Jim that, in his opinion, an airplane should look like an airplane. Therefore, his company specializes in scale models. As you look at the models in the video it’s easy to assume that these must be difficult to build, but that’s not the case according to Sang. The aircraft are actually built at the factory and only require a small amount of assembly.

Sang describes in detail how they developed a particular model of aircraft, and it almost sounds as complex as designing and flying full-scale airplane.

This video shows the side of model aircraft that allows someone to actually fly an airplane that, in reality, may no longer exists. It’s a fascinating side of model aviation. Sang said it has allowed him “to make his boyish dreams come true.”
