Aircell Establishes New Scholarship For Aviation Education

First Annual Recipient Announced At AEA Convention In Washington D.C.

The establishment of Aircell, a new aviation scholarship program was announced Wednesday by Aircell in conjunction with the AEA Educational Foundation. In the amount of $2,500, the Aircell Scholarship will be available each year to high school seniors and/or college students who plan to attend, or are already attending, an accredited school in an avionics or aircraft repair program.

The Aircell Scholarship’s first annual recipient – Heather Behrent of Oshkosh, WI – was announced this morning at the AEA International Convention & Trade Show in Washington, D.C. Ms. Behrent is currently in her second semester in the avionics program at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, WI. Upon graduation in 2013, she plans to enter the workforce and simultaneously enroll in an Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) program to further her knowledge and continue expanding her capabilities in the aviation industry.

The AEA Educational Foundation awards scholarships to students pursuing a career in the general aviation maintenance and aircraft electronics industry. The intent of these scholarships is to identify and reward those individuals who best exemplify the qualities that lead to success in the aviation industry. The Foundation was created in 1990 to enhance, promote and secure the future of aviation maintenance and the AEA by furthering the education of students, technicians, members of the AEA and others as determined by aviation industry needs. Since its inception, the AEA scholarship program has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships.

Students wishing to apply for the Aircell Scholarship for the 2013-14 academic year are encouraged to visit www.aea.net/scholarship after Oct. 1, 2012. The deadline for returning applications is Feb. 15, 2013, and recipients will be announced during the 56th annual AEA International Convention & Trade Show, which takes place from March 25-28, 2013, in Las Vegas, NV.
