CAN Receives $25,000 Donation From Wings Club

Appreciation Plaques Will Be Placed At 10 FBOs

Corporate Angel Network, the national public charity that arranges free flights to treatment for cancer patients by using empty seats on business aircraft, was presented a $25,000 check in a ceremony held during The Wings Club's annual dinner dance at the Waldorf-Astoria.

The award recognizes Corporate Angel's service to cancer patients. The charity has arranged more than 32,000 free flights to treatment aboard business and fractional aircraft.

Dave Barger, president of The Wings Club, said the donation recognizes the superb job Corporate Angel does in softening the cares and pressures of cancer patients. "Corporate Angel Network has carried patients to treatment centers from most of the 50 states.  They are sensitive to the particular medical needs of these travelers and offer an efficient, reliable service.  This can ease the hardship, and often even the worries, of those who are battling cancer," Barger said.

The check was received by Corporate Angel Board Member Wilson Leach. "When cancer is diagnosed, a family's life can be changed forever," Leach said.  In addition to his work with the charity, Leach is also the Managing Director/Founding Publisher of AVIATION INTERNATIONAL NEWS and Business Jet Traveler.

"Treatment options and financial arrangements must be made," he said.  "Many of those decisions center on acquiring the best possible treatment available and the most efficient ways of getting to it.  That's where we provide our best contribution."

In recognition of The Wings Club's longtime support of Corporate Angel Network efforts, the organization will arrange to have "Wings Club Appreciation Plaques" placed at the 10 FBOs that see the most Corporate Angel patients departing to, or returning from cancer treatment.
