SmartSky Networks Begins Taking Orders

Promises a High-Speed “Office in the Sky”

Next-gen Air-to-Ground (ATG) networking specialist begins accepting orders for its Early Arrival promotion.

Operators hungry for improved internet service aloft may find the newest competitor intriguing for its use of a bidirectional data link that promises real-time, low latency, “office in the sky” performance. Quoted performance is stated to be “over ten times better than currently available ATG services. SmartSky’s OEM and MRO partners can now begin installations, complete STCs and offer their products for widespread use.

Devid Helfgott, CEO, believes customers will love the added benefits of their network. “COVID-19 has accelerated expectations for inflight connectivity in business aviation, and those who fly have become increasingly frustrated by data that is delivered poorly – slow, unreliable, or not secure. SmartSky’s high-speed network, flexible platform and innovative hardware provide access to data that feels as immediate, fluid and natural at 35,000 ft as it does on the ground – dependable, high-speed, secure and interoperable.”

With their network infrastructure placed and ready for service, SmartSky expects to finish 2021 with 80% of the continental US business aviation flight routes on its way to full continental US coverage in 2022. With 4,000 aircraft covered by an STC already, they want to hit the ground running and gain as much market share as they can. Boasting their high-bandwidth, low-latency, symmetrical service, they foresee a lot of enthusiasm from buyers seeking secure, encrypted communications, video teleconferencing, or real-time telematics.

Additional benefits from their Skytelligence further adds value through increased operational intelligence, weather information, and more. Recently, the company announced the integration of AvMet Applications’s data, a leading collaborator with the FAA’s NextGen Aviation Weather Division.
