MV-22 Osprey Down Off Coast Of Japan

All Five On Board Rescued, Military Official Confirm

A U.S. Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey went down off the coast of Japan Tuesday with five people on board. All have been rescued, according to military officials.

Details are pretty thin, but the Pentagon says that two of the people on board the aircraft were injured, but provided no details as to the extent of their injuries.

The accident follows the loss of an F/A-18 Hornet off the Japanese coast last week. The pilot of the Hornet, Capt. Jake Frederick, 32, was ejected from the aircraft but was fatally injured in the accident. His body was recovered over the weekend by a Japanese Search and Rescue crew.

Fox News reports that the accident is the eighth involving a Marine Corps aircraft this year. All were during training flights.
