When Gliders Land Badly

Hits Towplane On Taxiway

You know how they say, "Any landing you can walk away from...?" Well, "they" apparently weren't taxiing the towplane hit by a glider at a private airfield in Oregon over the weekend.

Authorities say 51-year old Guy Allee may have been coming in a bit fast as he was landing his sailplane. One of its wings made contact with the ground at the strip near North Plains Sunday, causing it to ground loop... right into a Piper Pawnee that was getting ready to tow another glider aloft.

Allee was slightly hurt in the mishap. His daughter, flying with him, wasn't hurt at all. Neither were the pilot of the Pawnee or the glider he was towing.

Local law officers secured the scene until the FAA could get there. The investigation is underway.
