FAA Proposes $150,000 Civil Penalty Against Pacific Coast Aviation

Alleges Operation Of Aircraft Not In Airworthy Condition

The FAA has proposed a $150,000 civil penalty against Pacific Coast Aviation of Brookings, OR, for allegedly operating a jet on dozens of flights when it was not in an airworthy condition.

The FAA alleges Pacific Coast operated a Hawker 800XP jet on 94 flights when parts replacements were overdue for two fuse cartridges that are part of the aircraft engine fire-extinguishing system. The parts were due for replacement on March 26, 2017, but were not replaced until six months later, on Aug. 17, 2017, the FAA alleges.

The FAA alleges the aircraft was not in an airworthy condition during those 94 flights.

Pacific Coast has asked to meet with the FAA to discuss the case.
