Planes of Fame This Weekend

Chino (CA) Declared Temporary Center of Aviation Universe

Military hardware is the focus of the Planes of Fame Museum, one of the premier flying warbird collections in the world; and modern military aircraft will join in the festivities this weekend, as well.

The U.S. Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet and a pair of U.S. Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcons will arrive at rural Chino Airport Friday morning in preparation for the Planes of Fames Air Show 2003.
Based at Naval Air Station Lemoore, the F/A-18E is scheduled to arrive at Chino at 8:30 a.m. and the Fighting Falcons from Hill Air Force Base in Utah are scheduled to arrive at 11 a.m. The aircraft will be on public display starting at 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday mornings.

The Fighting Falcon and the Super Hornet are two of the United States' primary tactical jet fighter-bombers. During this weekend's Air Show 2003, the Fighting Falcon will team up with Planes of Fame's own Korean War-era F-86F Sabre Jet and a World War II-era P51D Mustang for Air Force Heritage Flight demonstrations. The Super Hornet will be paired with a World War II-era FG-1D Corsair for Navy Tailhook Legacy Flight routines.
