US Airways Schedules Final Flights

Airline Will Cease Flying As A Separate Entity October 17

When US Airways operates Flight 434 from San Francisco to Philadelphia and Flight 496 from Phoenix to Denver on October 16, they will be the last two flights under the US Airways brands. When Flight 434 lands in Philly at 0034 EDT, the airline will cease to exist.

At least that's the way it stands now. American Airlines Group says that schedules can, and often do, change.

The Dallas Morning News reports that as of July 18-19, any reservation made for flights departing on October 17 and thereafter will be listed as American Airlines' flights. Previous reservations for flights after that date will be migrated to AA.

Preparations are already underway for the merger of the two reservation systems, which analysts say is always one of the trickiest parts of an airline merger. The system will migrate to American's Sabre reservation system rather than use US Airways' smaller SHARES system.

Passengers will also see kiosks change over to AA displays, and new uniforms are under development for employees.
