Miracle Flights Reports 669 Free Medical Flights In June 2017

Group Has Logged Over 60 Million Miles Since Its Inception In 1985

Continuing its 32-year mission to provide a "cure for distance," Miracle Flights, the nation's leading medical flight charity, today reported a monthly total of 669 free commercial airline flights granted in June for children and adults in need of specialized, out-of-state medical care.

Headquartered in Las Vegas, Miracle Flights assists patients with rare and life-threatening medical conditions from across the country and around the world. Last month alone, the nonprofit organization flew patients from 30 states and 5 foreign countries, including Canada, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Peru.

Among the top destinations were key pediatric medical hubs Boston Children's Hospital, Shriners Hospitals for Children in Philadelphia, and Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

"Most of the patients we serve have such rare conditions there may be only a few specialists in the country who can provide treatment," said Miracle Flights CEO Mark E. Brown. "Parents often face a tremendous sense of hopelessness when they realize getting the proper care for their child requires significant plane travel. For Miracle Flights to cover the cost of those flights—not just one time, but as many times as the child needs it—goes a long way in restoring hope for families with sick children."

Since launching in 1985, Miracle Flights has provided a total of 110,084 free medical flights and traveled more than 60 million miles to help patients gain access to distant medical care.
