Odyssey Aviation Acquires SSI Golden Isles FBO

Boutique FBO Chain Expanding to Plan

On 02 March 2023, Odyssey Aviation U.S. announced it had acquired Golden Isles Aviation, a Fixed Base Operator (FBO) serving Georgia’s McKinnon St. Simons Island Airport (SSI). Private investment firms Granite Creek Capital Partners LLC and Everside Capital, provided financing for the undertaking.

Golden Isles is a full-service FBO providing aviation fuel, hangar rental, ramp space, and additional services to general aviation customers at the McKinnon St. Simons Island Airport (SSI) on St. Simons Island, GA, a resort destination on Georgia’s Atlantic coast.

The Golden Isles acquisition expands Odyssey’s FBO network, adding to locations at Florida’s Kissimmee Gateway Airport (ISM) and Ypsilanti, Michigan’s Willow Run Airport (YIP). Notwithstanding the broadening of Odyssey’s national purview, the company remains dedicated to providing world-class services to its business and private aviation customers.

Odyssey is led by CEO Salvatore Calvino and president Ken Allison, both highly-tenured executives with decades of combined experience in the FBO industry and aviation services. The acquisition of Golden Isles underscores Odyssey’s strategic initiative to create a boutique FBO business by which the highest-possible standard of aviation customer service will be defined and maintained.

As part of the SSI acquisition, Golden Isles CEO and president Larry Wade will join Odyssey as a partner and serve on the company’s Board of Directors. The SSI FBO will keep the Golden Isle name and affiliations and maintain its status as a World Fuel Air Elite location.

Odyssey CEO Salvatore Calvino stated: “We are truly excited to add Golden Isles to our growing network of FBOs. The people are what makes Golden Isles a great FBO, and we are grateful that industry icon Larry Wade has agreed to join Odyssey and add to our team of experienced aviation industry leaders.”

Mr. Wade echoed Mr. Calvino’s sentiments, setting forth: “I am thrilled to be part of the Odyssey family. Like Golden Isles, Odyssey’s first priority is its employees and customers.”

Odyssey president Ken Allison remarked: “Both organizations are built on delivering a world-class customer experience, making GIA a perfect fit with Odyssey.”
