Jack Roush Reported On The Mend

The Premier... Didn't Do So Well

ANN has learned that Racing Pioneer and Aviation Aficionado Jack Roush, 68, is apparently healing well after a landing accident, last week, at the 2010 Oshkosh EAA Fly-In. Roush was reportedly trying to land when his aircraft stalled and impacted the airport just off the runway after the close of the daily airshow on July 27th.

Media reports indicate that NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Carl Edwards paid a visit to Roush, at the Mayo Clinic (where he is being treated for facial injuries) in Rochester, MN, this week and found him to be doing reasonably well. "Jack is really good," said Edwards. "He is a lot better than I expected. He is Jack. We talked a lot about the race this weekend and what we were doing with our teams. He seems really good to me."

The Premier went down with Roush at the stick and a passenger on board -- who suffered only minor injuries. Roush exited the aircraft under his own power but the impact apparently caused some significant facial injuries in the process. The aircraft broke up on impact but apparently provided pretty impressive protection for its occupants despite the obviously intense forces involved.

Ultimately; the Premier did not fare so well -- the aircraft has apparently been released to a salvage firm and was seen working its way, ignominiously to its new home on two separate trailers... the wreckage was spotted in Indiana by an alert ANN reader while being transported by Atlanta Air Recovery, of Griffin, GA.
