RRL Assembles First League-Owned Racing Team

Make Way For "Thunderhawk Racing"

In a major step towards its planned augural race schedule beginning in 2008, the Rocket Racing League (RRL) has assembled its first of two League-owned and operated race teams. The first team, "Thunderhawk Racing" will fly the colors of the RRL, and will be piloted by Nick Mowery, a seasoned pilot from Scottsdale, AZ.

"Our emphasis at this time is readying the Mark-1 X-Racers for our first year race schedule, yet we continue to take advantage of great opportunities," said Granger Whitelaw, President and CEO of the Rocket Racing League. "Previously we announced the naming of our first team vehicle, "Thunderhawk", and now the naming of the Team’s pilot Nick Mowery. Nick is a very talented pilot and represents one of those great opportunities you don’t want to pass up."

A graduate of Emery Riddle Aeronautical University, Nick Mowery quickly earned his CFI rating after he graduated early from high school. Since then, he has migrated from single engine piston aircraft, to twins and jets.

"After having flown the piston powered rocket trainer over 1,000 nautical miles up the east coast I have high confidence in the modified Velocity airframe as a safe, reliable high performance platform that will form backbone of the Mark-1 X-Racer," said Mowery.

Velocity is the League's exclusive airframe manufacturer, and will sponsor Mowery as the pilot for Thunderhawk. Velocity represents the first company sponsor within the RRL to sponsor a team pilot.

"Velocity could not be more excited about being a sponsor of RRL and specifically Nick Mowery who we are confident will do a great job representing the Velocity brand through the racing circuit" commented Velocity Inc. Vice-President Scott Baker.

In addition to several owner-operated race teams, the Rocket Racing League intends to have at least two company owned and operated teams by 2008. Thunderhawk Racing is the first of two teams that the RRL will assemble and manage.
