FAA Investigating Complaints Of Plane Buzzing Boaters

Reports Of Low-Flying Aircraft Come From Boaters On Two Texas Lakes

The FAA is investigating complaints of an airplane flying low over the water at Eagle Mountain Lake and Lake Arlington, both in Texas.

Television station KXAS reports that FAA spokesperson Lynn Lunsford confirmed that multiple reports of low-flying aircraft were received from the two lakes on July 4th. The antics were captured on video by several people boating on Eagle Mountain Lake.

The plane reportedly made several low passes over Eagle Mountain Lake near a marina at about 5:30 before departing. At least one boater told the station he called 911 to report that a plane was in trouble before he realized that the pilot was "just having fun." There was also a passenger on board the plane, and witness Adam Pick said he could see the people in the plane "waving and laughing." Pick said that his two pre-teen daugthers were on a tube behind the boat, and were "screaming" as the plane made a second pass over them at only 10 to 15 feet off the water.

The station found that the plane is owned by a company in Tulsa, and the owner of that company told the station that he leases the plane to a traffic-monitoring company in Dallas, TX.
