Former Boeing CEO Goes From Heavy Jets To LSA's
ICON Aircraft announced Wednesday
that Phil Condit (pictured), former Chief Executive Officer of
Boeing, has joined its board of advisors. Condit brings over 40
years of aviation experience to ICON.
Condit joined Boeing in 1965 as an aerodynamics engineer and
quickly rose within the organization, taking on various engineering
and leadership positions. He led the team that launched the
wide-body composite Boeing 777 airplane. Phil was elected President
and a Member of the Board of Directors of Boeing in 1992 and later
added the title of Chief Executive Officer in 1996 and, in 1997,
was elected Chairman. Elected a member of the National
Academy of Engineering in 1985, he is also an honorary fellow of
the Royal Aeronautical Society and an honorary fellow of the
American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
"There are few individuals with the breadth of experience,
expertise and influence in our industry as Phil Condit, and we're
honored to have him as a member of our Board of Advisors," said
Kirk Hawkins, Founder & CEO. "Phil's ongoing input will be
invaluable from a design and engineering standpoint, as well as
aircraft production and business operations."
"The ICON A5 is an exceptional aircraft," says Phil Condit. What
first got my attention with ICON was the brilliant engineering I
saw in the A5. But, what really got me involve with the company was
ICON's extraordinary team. ICON's ability to execute across
so many critical disciplines from design, to engineering, to
marketing, to business leadership is truly exceptional."
Condit joins an elite group of Aviation industry and business
savants that comprise ICON's Board of Directors, including John
Dorton, CEO of Mastercraft Boats; Jim Ellis, Founder of
Asurion; Vern Raburn, Founder and Former CEO of Eclipse
Aviation; and Esther Dyson, President of EDventures among
others.
