Aviation Capital Group to Acquire 13 737 MAX Jets

MAX Family Sales Continues to Gather Momentum

Arlington, Virginia-based aerospace titan Boeing and Aviation Capital Group (ACG), a full-service aircraft asset management concern and wholly-owned subsidiary of Tokyo Century Corporation, have finalized an agreement by which the latter will acquire 13 737 MAX jets, thereby increasing ACG’s order book to 47 737 MAX family aircraft.

The incremental order comprises seven 737 MAX-8 and six 737 MAX-10 narrow-body airliners and speaks to ACG’s ambition to grow its single-aisle holdings for purpose of meeting robust customer demand for Boeing’s fuel-efficient 737 MAX lineup.

ACG vice-president and chief of aircraft operations Steven Udvar-Hazy stated: “We are pleased to expand ACG’s commitment to the 737 MAX program. This additional order will allow ACG to offer highly fuel-efficient and versatile aircraft to our airline customers worldwide.”

In addition to standardized training—all members of the Boeing 737 family, to include the Original, Classic, Next Generation, and MAX series, share the same pilot type rating—the 737 MAX family affords air-carriers fuel-efficiency, ecological accountability, reliability, flexibility, and operational economy beyond that of legacy narrow-body airliners. The 737 MAX 8’s 3,041-nautical-mile range exceeds that of its predecessor, the 737 Next Generation (NG) series, by nearly 520-nautical-miles—the distance by which Chicago and Atlanta are separated. The MAX 8’s superior range is attributable, in part, to an eldritch combination of fuel-efficient CFM LEAP 1-B engines and advanced aerodynamics that cuts fuel-burn (relative the NG series) by twenty-percent. The 737 MAX-8 is capable of carrying up to 210 passengers.

Under normal use, each 737 MAX aircraft emits up to eight-million fewer pounds of CO2 emissions than the airplanes it replaces. Moreover, the 737 MAX is approximately fifty-percent quieter than its forebears.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes vice-president of global leasing, commercial sales and marketing Christy Reese remarked: “ACG’s growing and diverse 737 MAX portfolio allows its customers to operate a more sustainable, efficient fleet. We look forward to helping ACG deliver the most fuel-efficient airplanes in the industry to its airline partners.”
