iFlite 3 Updates Ready For Cessna Single-Engine Aircraft

New Features Add To Functionality Of The Device

An updated version of Cessna's unique flight information and planning application for the Apple iPad is available for all single-engine aircraft manufactured by the Wichita planemaker.

Cessna iFlite 3 is an iPad app that allows pilots to instantly access up-to-the-minute weather images, plan routes and have access to a dual screen moving maps. iFlite 3 also includes the ability to view Cessna Pilot Operating Handbooks, calculate aircraft weight and balance and even calculate take-off and landing performance numbers.

"The iFlite application for the iPad, which we first introduced less than a year ago, has proven popular with Cessna single-engine pilots," said Brad Thress, Cessna's senior vice president of Customer Service. "This latest upgrade improves the flight planning tools available for our pilots."

Improvements over the first version of iFlite include:

  • Pinch-to-zoom, moving map sectionals
  • Sectionals and IFR low/high enroute terrain charts
  • Inflight weather (ADS-B) with no monthly subscription
  • Route rubber banding
  • TFRs on the moving map

Other basic features of Cessna's iFlite include performance calculations; weight and balance; A/FD and AOPA information; route planning; weather text: METARs, TAFs, winds aloft, temperatures aloft; weather images: DUATS animated RADAR, satellite, etc.; DUATS filing flight plan and weather briefing; NACO approach charts; FARs; airport status — displays airport delays at major airports; and GPS moving map with VFR sectional and IFR enroute charts. For an additional charge, a Pilot Operating Handbook can also be purchased and included within the iFlite system.

Cost of Cessna iFlite is initially $9.99 with a $139.99 annual subscription and an additional $39 to add an aircraft POH.
