AeroSports Update: The Vectren Dayton Air Show Is Getting Ready

Military Static Aircraft Displays And Flybys Are Back At The Vectren Dayton Air Show

Vectren Dayton Air Show officials have announced that the U.S. Navy has lifted all restrictions on aircraft airshow participation and the U.S. Air Force has doubled their participation levels. This means they will once again be performing flybys. The show is planned for June 18th and 19th at the Dayton International Airport.

Military participation at air shows was suspended in 2013 as a result of federal sequestration. Jet teams and a few aircraft were added in the past two years. The recent announcement of military availability will bring significantly more military aircraft back to the show for spectator enjoyment.

“Military aircraft ground displays and flybys are enormously popular attractions for our air show,” stated Michael Emoff, Chairman of the USATS Board of Trustees. “Their return is big news and our fans are going to be absolutely thrilled,” Emoff added.

Air show officials will announce the types of aircraft that will appear on static display and flyby in the spring once confirmations are made with the individual military units providing the aircraft. The return of the aircraft will also mean many more active duty military crew members will be on site, a popular element of the show for attendees.

This Air Show is one of North America’s premier air shows. It features world-class aerobatic champions, military jet demonstrations and entertainment for the whole family, celebrating Dayton’s rich aviation heritage as home of the Wright Brothers, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force and National Aviation Heritage Area.
