House Meets Tuesday, Senate On Thursday For Initial Look At The Bills
The House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure has scheduled a markup of the 21st Century Aviation Innovation, Reform, and Reauthorization Act - the 21st Century AIRR Act - H.R. 2997, for 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, in 2167 Rayburn House Office Building.
The bipartisan H.R. 2997 is a six-year reauthorization of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that provides sweeping, transformational reform of the agency. The bill includes provisions and reforms to reduce red tape in the FAA’s certification process for aircraft and aviation products, improve the safety of air travel, improve the flying experience for consumers, foster innovation in unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), fund the Nation’s airport infrastructure, and separate our antiquated air traffic control (ATC) service from the federal government and help finally modernize the system.
“In developing this bill, the Committee held over 150 stakeholder meetings and six hearings since February. These hearings and meetings were productive, positive, and helped us improve our bill from last Congress,” said Committee Chairman Bill Shuster (R-PA). “Support for this critical reform bill is growing, from Congress, aviation stakeholders, policy experts, and editorial and opinion pages from around the country. Historically, this is not a partisan issue, and it’s time to move forward with this bill for America’s taxpayers, America’s traveling public, and America’s lead in aviation.”
The U.S. Senate will mark up its version of the FAA Reauthorization Bill ... the Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization Act of 2017 ... on Thursday, June 29th at 9:00 a.m. It is one of several bills and nominations to be considered on Thursday by the committee.
