NavWorx Receives FCC Authorization For ADS600-B
Transceiver
The FCC has authorized NavWorx
ADS600-B Transceiver. Introduced in April, the ADS600-B
incorporates both transmit and receive capabilities of an Automatic
Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) Universal Access
Transceiver (UAT) and is designed to meet FAA TSO-C154c. The
ADS600-B generates symbology from traffic and weather broadcasts to
be viewed on a variety of cockpit displays. ADS-B operates on the
existing global GPS system and an expanding ADS-B infrastructure in
the U.S. The ADS600-B can be installed on any aircraft.
On June 17, 2010, Grant of Equipment Authorization was awarded
to NavWorx the FCC. NavWorx' ADS600-B was certified and tested by
independent firm Nemko Canada, an FCC-recognized Telecommunications
Certification Body, headquartered in Canada. Nemko certifies
products to U.S. standards and in accordance with FCC rules.
Numerous tests were performed including: RF power output, Occupied
Bandwidth, Spurious Emissions at Antenna Terminal, Frequency
Stability, and Field Strength of Spurious Emissions. The ADS600-B
has a maximum 40-Watt output and operates on a single antenna.
ADS-B equipment uses the 978 MHz frequency as specified by FAA
TSO-C154c. Testing was performed Lewisville, Texas, nearby the
NavWorx' Dallas-area headquarters.
"We have extensively tested our equipment, and FCC acceptance
confirms the depth of design work that went into the ADS600," said
Bill Moffitt, President of NavWorx. ADS-B offers significant
benefits to pilots. Best of all, it is affordable and available
now. With no subscription required, pilots can take advantage
having traffic and weather displayed in real time in their
cockpit."
The NavWorx product line consists of the ADS600 and PADS600,
both ADS-B receivers designed for certified, experimental, and
light-sport aircraft. The ADS600-B, priced at $2,495.00, is
presently non-TSO'd. The ADS600-B takes full advantage of the free
broadcast of traffic and weather under the FAA-mandated NexGen
ADS-B network.
