'Dash-10s' In A King Air C/E 90? Can you say,
'Rocketship?'
National Flight
Services has delivered their first Honeywell TPE331-powered
King Air 90 with the Kilo Alpha 290 conversion.
The Kilo Alpha conversion program for the Beechcraft King Air
C90 and E90 series aircraft features two new Honeywell (Garrett)
TPE331-10 (1000 horsepower engines) with new McCauley five-bladed
BlackMac noise reduction propellers backed by full factory
warranties. Also included in the conversion are Raisbeck Aft Body
Strakes and the Kilo Alpha 290 "Fresh Air" Exhaust Soot Reduction
System.
The Kilo Alpha 290 Conversion Program transforms the C90 &
E90 series aircraft into the "Big Dog" of the King Air conversions.
Kilo Alpha 290 demonstrates speeds of up to 290 KTAS with a time to
climb of sea-level to 24,000 ft. in 10 minutes. In other words,
KA290 uses less runway, climbs faster, goes farther, and uses less
fuel than any other King Air 90 conversion on the market.
The Kilo Alpha 290 conversion transforms one of the world's most
well-known, trusted and reliable turbo-prop aircraft into a true
high-performance machine. "The biggest benefit, aside from the 45
to 65 plus KTAS cruise increase, is the fact that the Honeywell
TPE331-10 engines carry a 7000 hour TBO with a 3500 hour mid-life
inspection as compared to factory installed PT-6 engines which
carry a 3500 hour TBO with a 1750 hour hot-section inspection,"
noted Jim Clifford, Vice President and General Manager of National
Flight Services.
"The Honeywell engines are not only more efficient, but also
require maintenance half as often, decreasing engine cost by over
60%."
National Flight Services has been serving the aviation industry
with high-quality products and services since 1960. National Flight
is the world's largest independent overhaul facility for Honeywell
TPE331 turboprop engines with locations in Lakeland, Florida and
Toledo, Ohio as well as San Antonio, Texas and Toronto, Canada.
