ANN news editor Tom Patton talks with Chris Holder, the Eastern U.S. Sales Manager for Concorde Battery. Tom asked Holder why Concorde has discontinued their CB line of flooded batteries.
Holder said that while flooded batteries have been used in aircraft for about 85 years, technology has come to the point that they are simply no longer needed and there’s a better way to go.
In this video, Holder goes on to explain the difference between the flooded battery and the new technology sealed batteries. The sealed battery has more plates, delivers more energy, is more efficient to own, and lasts longer.
While the initial purchase price of a sealed battery is more than the older technology flooded battery, Holder makes a good case for the higher cost of buying the sealed battery being offset by the lower cost of maintaining the battery and its longer service life. Whether or not you’re in the market for a battery, this is a great video to watch to understand how they work and what’s best for you.
