AOPA Pilot Town Meeting: Lakeland FL

Time Out From Sun 'N Fun For Some Serious Discussion

Something on your mind, bunkie? Do you have something to say that other pilots need to hear? Then Lakeland (FL) is the place you want to be after you mail in your tax returns on April 15th. That's where AOPA is holding one of its Pilot Town Meetings.

Since 1992, AOPA President Phil Boyer has held AOPA Pilot Town Meetings across America, reviewing national developments in General Aviation and engaging pilots on local GA issues. In more than 260 such meetings, Boyer has set the pace for direct communication with the nation's pilots.

AOPA's Pilot Town Meetings offer pilots and aircraft owners a lively forum in which to discuss matters that are important to them, exploring issues and concerns with AOPA's president and with each other.

Boyer regards the Pilot Town Meeting as a learning vehicle for himself, too. Indeed, his primary purpose in instituting them 10 years ago was to become more familiar with the concerns of pilots and owners through a direct, personal exchange of views. He credits this continual feedback (in addition to continual member research) with helping guide AOPA in constantly improving its service to members. And that, in turn, has sparked the steady rise in AOPA membership to its record of more than 400,000.

Boyer's multimedia presentations are fast-paced and high-tech, informative and entertaining. And using new, interactive technology at each meeting, about 50 randomly selected pilots participate in a real-time electronic poll on a variety of issues. The audience sees the results instantly!

AOPA's Regional Representatives participate in Pilot Town Meetings in their areas, and useful printed materials from AOPA and the AOPA Air Safety Foundation are always available on-site.

AOPA Pilot Town Meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. and are open to all pilots at no cost.
