First Pro Line 4 To Pro Line 21 Upgrade Completed, Certified For Falcon 50EX

Rockwell Collins Adds New Components To Existing System

Rockwell Collins announced this week the completion of the first Pro Line 4 to Pro Line 21 upgrade on a Falcon 50EX by Duncan Aviation. This major retrofit program first announced in November 2007, uses existing Pro Line 4 equipment along with key Pro Line 21 equipment to provide the upgraded functionality.

"Successfully upgrading and certifying our Pro Line 21 solution for Falcon 50EX aircraft marks an important milestone for Rockwell Collins and Duncan Aviation as we work to bring glass cockpit technology to a growing number of existing aircraft," said Greg Irmen, vice president and general manager, Business and Regional Systems for Rockwell Collins. "Falcon 50EX owners and operators can now experience the added situational awareness and operational efficiencies that our Pro Line 21 solution offers. We intend to expand this offering to other platforms in the future as well."

The open architecture of Rockwell Collins systems allows Pro Line 21 displays to interface with the existing Pro Line 4 avionics package, utilizing existing sensors, radios and autopilots. The upgrade provides Pro Line 21 functionality, including: high resolution Liquid Crystal Displays (LCDs); graphical weather; electronic charting, with standard instrument departures, STARs, notices to airmen (NOTAM), approach charts and airport diagrams; display capability for terrain awareness warning system (TAWS), radar, traffic collision avoidance system (TCAS), enhanced vision system (EVS); enhanced maps of geographical and political boundaries, airspace restrictions and terrain features; and wide area augmentation system (WAAS) to provision for localizer performance with vertical guidance (LPV) as a future upgrade.

Duncan Aviation has certified Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 installations in the following aircraft models: Falcon 50, Hawker 800A, Hawker 800XP and Astra 1125. The company also plans to complete the Pro Line 4 to Pro Line 21 upgrade on a Falcon 2000 this year.
