L-39 Down At TN Airshow, Pilot Reported lost

Airshow Pilot Jay Gordon Was Performing At ‘Wings Over Big South Fork Air Show and Car Show'

In a story series that is becoming tragically familiar, we regret to note that another airshow pilot has lost his life in a scheduled performance.

Pilot Jay Gordon, flying an L-39 is reported to have gone down at ‘Wings Over Big South Fork Air Show and Car Show' shortly before 1700 ET for reasons as yet undetermined or detailed. The accident, at Scott Municipal Airport in Tennessee, occurred during the 12th rendition of this airshow.

Jay Gordon was the President and founder of Gordon-Darby, Inc. and had been a significant regional airshow presence for a number of years in aircraft ranging from the Extra 300L to the single-engine jet L-39 Albatros. Reported to have a decade's experience in the airshow industry, Gordon was a regular presence at the Thunder Over Louisville Airshow. ATP-rated, Gordon was also the pilot of his company's Cessna's CJ2.

Few details have come to our attention... only that the aircraft started diving prior to a maneuver and failed to recover. ANN will report back as soon as additional, verifiable info becomes available.
