United Airlines, IAM Reach Tentative Agreements

Contract Cover More Than 28,000 United Employees

United Continental Holdings has reached tentative agreements on new joint collective bargaining agreements with the International Association of Machinists (IAM) for the fleet service, passenger service and storekeeper workgroups at the United, Continental, Continental Micronesia and MileagePlus subsidiaries. The agreements are subject to ratification by IAM members.

"I want to acknowledge the hard work of the negotiating committee members in reaching these agreements. The agreements are an important part of working together to build the world's leading airline," said Jon Roitman, senior vice president of airport operations for United, in announcing the agreements Wednesday. The agreements cover more than 28,000 United employees.

"We thank National Mediation Board member Linda Puchala and Senior Mediator Patricia Sims for their direct involvement and assistance throughout the mediation process," said Mike Bonds, executive vice president of human resources and labor relations at United. "The NMB's effective training program, combined with commitments for expedited negotiations, allowed us to reach timely agreements. I also want to recognize the efforts of mediators Michael Kelliher and Andy Nordgren, who helped set the framework for effective dialogue."
