Jane Wicker Memorialized At Flying Circus Air Show

Wing Walker And Pilot Were Fatally Injured At Vectern Dayton Air Show Last Month

About 100 friends and relatives of wing walker Jane Wicker gathered at the Flying Circus Air Show and Aerodrome in Bealeton, VA Tuesday to memorialize the well-known performer who was fatally injured during a performance last month in Dayton, OH. Pilot Charlie Schwenker was also fatally injured when the Stearman biplane they were flying went down.

Wicker was remembered not only as a wing walker but also as an accomplished pilot and businesswoman.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that the memorial opened with a flyover by a flight of four Beechcraft Bonanzas and a Beech Baron. It ended when Wicker's ashes were scattered across the airfield by a wing walker.

Jane's sister Elizabeth said during the ceremony that while she took risks, she wasn't reckless. She said her sister was taught by their parents to "believe in a life of no limitations."

Also attending the ceremony were Wicker's ex-husband Kirk and her fiancé, Rock Skowbo. Kirk Wicker, struggling to contain his emotions, said that she had met both he and Rock at the Aerodrome. "Apparently, this is where she picked all her husbands," he joked.
