Fourth Annual 'Wave Camp' Scheduled

SoaringNV Offers Instruction For Glider Pilots Near Lake Tahoe

Soaring NV has announced its fourth annual Minden Wave Camp, coming up the week of March 25-31, 2012 at the Minden-Tahoe Airport. This event provides a great opportunity to experience gliders and learn more about unpowered flight in a scenic area.

Of his first soaring experience out of Minden, reporter Tony Hicks of the Bay Area News Group commented, "For 20 minutes we rode the winds down, up and around the valley with all the control of an airplane, just without the noise...Nestled in the mountains east of Tahoe, Soaring NV couldn't be in a more spectacularly scenic place."

SoaringNV promises daily presentations from highly experienced wave pilots, safety briefings, Wave Window operations, talking to ATC, high altitude oxygen and aeromedical factors, and more. Attendees are invited to get instruction and dual flights, and solo flight for altitude badges is also available with badge processing on-site.

Available aircraft include LS-4, Discus B, K-21, Duo Discus, and attendees are welcome to bring their own aircraft if equipped with transponders.

The cost is $300 for Wave Camp, or $700 for the camp and six nights' lodging.
