Warm Reception For Sporty’s 172LITE

Basic Trainer A Popular Option At Flight School

Since joining the flight line at Sporty’s Flight School, Sporty’s 172LITE is proving to be a popular aircraft for new student pilots and even those building experience in more advanced phases of training.

The concept is simple. Take tried and true technology that is universally understood by technicians and refurbish, fix and simplify it as an introductory training aircraft with the space and useful load for today’s customers.

Sporty’s 172LITE started with a 1970s Cessna 172 airframe with low to moderate time. Sporty’s staff of technicians went through the airplane inside and out making any required repairs. Windows were replaced, modern LED lighting installed, and then the airplane was given a fresh coat of paint for the appearance of a brand new aircraft. The airplane received a freshly-overhauled Lycoming engine, new accessories and an overhauled propeller.

Inside the airplane the seats were refurbished, side panels recovered and carpet replaced. More ergonomic switches were installed to accompany the new metal panel with minimal avionics as the 172 LITE is as much about training philosophy as it is a “new” affordable aircraft. The goal is to reduce distractions and focus the student’s attention outside the aircraft while at the same time, reducing student workload and stress that comes from an overloaded panel or glass flight deck. Students will learn to fly first before they take on the often burdensome task of managing complicated avionics.

“The 172LITE is really a breath of fresh air for many of our clients” said Sporty’s Academy President Eric Radtke. “Eliminating the flight deck distractions that come with more robust avionics suites allows our customers to focus on the feel of the airplane and not become overwhelmed with navigating menus.”

The Sporty’s 172LITE is available at Sporty’s Academy for an introductory rate of just $99/hour. The look and feel of a brand-new airplane are appealing to pilots and flight instructors alike.
