Eurocopter Closes A Deal For Mitsubishi Jet Doors

Will Design And Manufacture Passenger, Service, Cargo Doors For MRJ

The Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) currently under development will have doors designed and manufactured by Eurocopter's Business Center Airplane Door Systems based in Donauwörth, Germany.

Dr. Wolfgang Schoder, CEO of Eurocopter Deutschland GmbH, stated during the contract signature ceremony in Nagoya: “This is a significant success for our company. We are very proud to continue the long and successful relationship between Eurocopter and the Japanese industry on aircraft doors and helicopters with this new project.”

Aircraft doors are critical safety components of an aircraft, and carry demanding certification and safety requirements. The doors need to contain a complex failsafe mechanism which will enable them to be operated under all circumstances. Eurocopter’s Business Center Airplane Door Systems has been building aircraft doors for over 20 years.

Eurocopter says it is looking forward to working closely with the Mitsubishi Aircraft team to make the MRJ a success story.

The MRJ is under development by MJET, and will be based on technology developed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries(MHI) during its many years engaged in the development and manufacture of both military and commercial aircraft. Mitsubishi says the MRJ should significantly cut fuel consumption, noise and emissions, which it hopes will improve competitiveness and profitability for airlines.
