New Sam Lyons Work To Be Named At AirVenture

Contest Will Determine The Painting's Title

Aviation artist Sam Lyons' latest work ... an acrylic canvas featuring a classic Cub on floats in a tropical setting ... will be on display at AirVenture in a couple of weeks. But the title of the as-yet-unnamed work will be determined by a "Name the Painting" contest to be held at the show.

Attendees at AirVenture are invited to come by the Lyons Studio booth 2028 in Building B. The 30" x 24" framed original will be on display, ready to provide inspiration. Entry forms will be available and each person can submit two names.

Shortly after the show, Sam and his wife Mindy will search through the suggestions in hopes of finding the perfect name. The winner will be notified on Friday, August 6. As thanks for coming up with a terrific title, the winner will receive a Limited Edition print of Sam's latest Cub creation. Sam has used this method before and says it's been very successful. Other popular Cub prints such as "Anticipation," "J3 Morning" and "Yellow Lure" were named by fans of Sam's artwork.

This is the first time, however, that Sam has used his Lakeland home for artistic inspiration. He relocated to Lakeland in March 2010 and the view from his backyard is what he used in the painting.
