Singapore Awards First Aircraft Engine Design Organization Approval

Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) DOA Goes To Pratt & Whitney

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has awarded Design Organization Approval (DOA) to Pratt & Whitney for support of Pratt & Whitney's multi-year Fleet Technical Management Agreement with Singapore Airlines Cargo.

Under the DOA, qualified Pratt & Whitney personnel in Singapore are authorized by the CAAS to locally approve repairs, modifications and deviations related to Singapore Airlines Cargo fleet of PW4000-94 engines. This DOA award from the CAAS is the first awarded in Singapore to an aircraft engine OEM.

"DOA approval from the CAAS allows the P&W Fleet Technical Management (FTM) organization to provide support to Singapore Cargo Airlines as a full charge powerplant engineering department responsible for day-to-day on-wing support of the airline fleet," said Jon Beatty, vice president, Airline Customers for Pratt & Whitney. "We are thrilled to deliver Singapore Airlines Cargo a fully inclusive and comprehensive service solution which provides on-wing support through FTM and off-wing support and engine overhaul through our existing fleet management program."

Singapore Airlines Cargo, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines formed in 2001, is one of the world's largest operators of B747-400 freighters. Singapore Airlines Cargo flies more than 600 flights a week throughout its network of over 70 cities in more than 30 countries around the world.
