CASA Emergency AD: Eurocopter

Subject: DCA/EC130/10 Cabin Vibration Damper Assemblies – Inspection and Replacement
Applicability: Model EC 130 B4 aircraft
Effective Date: 17 June 2005
Requirement: To prevent the failure of the blades of the cabin vibration damper
assembly, which could lead to the jamming of the flight controls bellcrank,
accomplish the following:
1. Visually inspect the visible areas of the blades of each of the cabin vibration damper assemblies which are installed on both the port and starboard sides of the helicopter for cracks, per paragraph 2.B.1. of EUROCOPTER EC 130 Alert Telex 05A002.
2. Replace cracked blades per paragraph 2.B.1. of Alert Telex 05A002.
(DGAC AD UF-2005-103 refers)
Compliance: 1. At every daily post flight inspection.
2. Before further flight.
Note: This AD is prompted by advice from the manufacturer and the French Airworthiness Authorities after a vibration damper failed in flight. The investigation revealed the failed components could cause interference with the flight controls. This AD should be accomplished by adding the pilot’s inspection requirement to the aircraft tech log.
