Florida Considers Blue Angels Specialty License Plate

One Of 21 Suggested Tags Included In A Proposal Before The State Legislature

A bill before the Florida legislature in its current session would create a special vehicle license plate honoring the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels.

The plate would carry the message "Home of the Blue Angels" along the bottom border of the tag. Annual fees generated by the sale of the tag would be earmarked for the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation, which includes the Naval Aviation Museum and the National Flight Academy in Pensacola.

North Escambia.com reports that there are currently 123 specialty tags currently available to Florida car owners. The 2019 legislation includes 21 new specialty license plates, but another proposed bill would cap the number of such tags at 125. Under Florida law, a specialty license plate must reach 1,000 presales before any are manufactured, and any tag that drops below 1,000 is removed. That caveat does not apply to tags that celebrate colleges and universities.
