ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell sits down to talk with Ric Peri, the Vice President of Government and Industry Affairs for the Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA).
FAR 145 is the regulation that deals with the governing of FAA approved repair stations, and recent rule changes will affect the repair stations and the customers they serve.
The changes to the regulations bring mixed reviews and Peri addresses some of these issues in this video. Peri said one of the positive aspects of the changes are regulations that crack down on what he calls, “bad characters.” The FAA is going to make it harder for repair stations that are not following the rules to stay in business, and Peri says this is a good thing.
Much of what Peri talks about relates to the inside operation of the repair station industry, but pilots who use repair stations that operate under FAR 145 would be wise to have an open dialogue with their repair station about these rule changes. This video provides an interesting inside look at things we often don’t think about.
