United Airlines Exceeds Its February On-Time Performance Goal

Employees Rewarded With Bonuses For Their Efforts

After exceeding its 80 percent on-time arrival domestic and international performance goals for the month of February, and on the heels of a strong performance in January, United Airlines announced that it is rewarding its eligible employees with a $100 on-time bonus to recognize this performance. Despite challenging weather, including major snow events in several of the airline's hub markets, United ended the month with an 80.8 percent domestic on-time arrival rate, and an 80.5 percent international on-time rate.

This performance marks the first time since 2003 that United's domestic and international mainline operations both achieved 80 percent or higher on-time arrival during the first two months of the year. United's domestic operations have averaged over 80 percent on time since last September, and the airline also achieved its best single-day on-time performance of the year with a 91.2 percent domestic performance on Feb. 13.

The airline's hub in Cleveland delivered the best performance for the month among United's eight domestic hubs with an average on-time arrival rate of 87 percent, while the San Francisco hub came in second with an on-time arrival rate of 83 percent. The on-time arrival rates are based on flights arriving within 14 minutes of scheduled arrival time.

"Thanks to my co-workers, we continue to provide solid operational performance this year," said Jeff Smisek, United's chairman, president and CEO. "We remain focused on providing operational reliability and great customer service as we work together to become the world's leading airline."

In February United also distributed approximately $119 million in profit sharing payments to eligible co-workers based on the company's 2012 financial results. The profit sharing payments were in addition to the more than $350 paid to each employee last year for achieving monthly on-time performance targets.
