Aero-TV: Belite Avionics - Micro Instrumentation for LSAs

CEO James Wiebe Details Belite's Newest Featherweight Technology

In only its second year since entering the industry, Belite Aircraft continues to establish a reputation for innovation and marketplace presence. After an aggressive redesign of an existing Part 103 aircraft, Belite introduced three new LSA models: the Belite 254, the Superlite, and the Trike. At the 2010 Lakeland Fly-In, Belite made yet another leap in the LSA market, introducing an all-new line of lightweight, solid-state avionics specifically designed for Part 103 and experimental aircraft.

Marketed under Belite Electronics, the new "Patch Flyer" instruments weigh in at only 1.5 ounces each. Specifically designed to fit into the instrument panels of homebuilt aircraft, the full line of panel-mounted instruments, including mounting hardware and connections, weighs less than one pound. Instruments available include: Vertical Speed Indicator (VSI), Air Speed Indicator (ASI), Turn Rate Indicator (TRI), Above Ground Level Altimeter (AGL), Inclinometer, Positive G Meter, Battery Condition Voltmeter, Voltage MiniMeter, Cylinder Head/Exhaust Gas Temperature Guage (CHT/EGT), and Fuel Guage.

Installation is straightforward, with many of the instruments available in small enclosures that can be carried in a flight bag and used within any aircraft. Belite Electronics is marketing the system as a high quality, inexpensive alternative for instrumentation that anyone can use.

"They're extremely simple, lightweight and easy to install, so they're ideal for those of us who spend time flying 'around the patch'…hence the name," explained James Wiebe, Chief Executive Officer of Belite Aircraft.
