TSA Administrator Meets With Key Officials In Switzerland And Belgium

Sessions To Discuss Improved International Air Cargo Security

TSA Administrator John S. Pistole returned Monday from a three-day trip to Switzerland and Belgium, where he discussed supply chain security efforts with international cargo organizations and government officials. Administrator Pistole also delivered the keynote address before the World Customs Organization (WCO), and met with international counterparts in both countries.

“Securing the international transportation system, which connects the global community, requires an enhanced international focus and cooperation on cargo security,” said Administrator Pistole.

Earlier this year, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced an initiative to secure the global supply chain by bringing together sovereign nations, international organizations and private sector partners. During his visit, Administrator Pistole discussed the initiative with WCO Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya, and Universal Postal Union (UPU) Director General Edouard Dayan.

In addition to his meetings with UPU Director General and the WCO Secretary General, Administrator Pistole discussed shared priorities with the Federal Office of Civil Aviation, TSA’s Swiss counterpart in aviation security. Administrator Pistole also met with U.S. Ambassadors Donald Beyer and Howard Gutman, and officials from other U.S. Department of Homeland Security components and the U.S. Department of State.
