Sky Regional Pilots File Cards For ALPA Representation

Three Hundred Pilots To Join World’s Largest Pilots Union After CIRB Certification

An overwhelming majority of Sky Regional pilots today filed membership cards with the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) seeking representation by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA). Under Canadian regulations, the CIRB will now investigate the application for certification, which may include contacting Sky Regional pilots who turned in a card to confirm its authenticity.

“We look forward to welcoming our Sky Regional colleagues to ALPA,” said ALPA president, Capt. Tim Canoll. “Adding the Sky Regional pilots into the world’s largest pilot union will help strengthen Canadian aviation and the overall piloting profession. It also adds the Sky Regional pilots’ voice to ALPA’s growing work with the Air Canada family of feeder airlines.”

When the CIRB completes the investigation, which could take up to 30 days, it will announce the decision concerning ALPA’s certification application. Once the CIRB is satisfied that ALPA has the support of the majority of the pilot group, ALPA will become the legal bargaining representative of the approximately 300 Sky Regional pilots.

“We look forward to putting ALPA’s vast resources to work to help the Sky Regional pilots reach their first contract,” said Capt. Dan Adamus, president of ALPA Canada. “We welcome Sky Regional pilots and anticipate building a solid working relationship with the Sky Regional management team.”
