Is It Possible? M-20 Offers 'Lifetime Vacuum Pump'

How many vacuum pumps have you replaced? How many have given up the ghost on you long before they should have? What would do to NOT have to buy another?

M-20 Oil Separators, LLC sent us a note claiming a "breakthrough in vacuum pump safety, durability, cleanliness of operation and affordability" for piston powered aircraft.

Their newly designed LIFETIME Vacuum Pump, replaces both the fragile dry pumps and the dirty wet ones. It's based on the proven Pesco and Garwin wet pumps with their long history of zero catastrophic failures.

M-20 President Bill Sandman, says that “The M-20 design takes vacuum pumps to a higher level, keeping the wet side inside and the dry side outside. We use improved working parts and 100% operational tests to provide a warranty that has no equal in aviation --- Warranted for the life of the aircraft, engine change through engine change, to supply full vacuum without oil discharge when used with a Model 600WP Air/Oil Separator”.

LIFETIME Vacuum Pumps are available 3 ways to cover the immediate needs of all users.

  1. As overhauled Garwin and Pesco pumps on airplanes so equipped,
  2. As overhauled Garwin and Pesco cores to replace dry pumps. (Cores can be found surplus in mechanics’ “junk box” inventory),
  3. As new production M-20 Model 500 pumps, expected in December 2003 with STC certification.

All M-20 pumps, overhauled or new, carry the same unique warranty for the life of the airframe, through all engine changes, overhauls, prop-strikes and other tear-down events which could contaminate the pump. When these events occur, possible damage is covered by an equally unique Check-Up Service in which M-20 evaluates the pump performance on their test bench at higher settings than available in the aircraft. The pump is returned with a Warranty Recertification or the owner is notified of any performance shortfall. Overhaul, if indicated, is at M-20’s expense, unless there is evidence of abuse, misuse or contamination which caused unusual wear.

Overhauls are available from M-20 Oil Separators for $680. New STC pump orders are being accepted at the pre-certification introductory price of $1339, or after certification for $1669. When needed, the Special Check-up Service with Warranty Renewal costs $98.
