Part Of An Extensive Online Makeover
The Society of Aviation and Flight Educators (SAFE) website
has been undergoing and extensive update, which includes the
addition of a list of member benefits available from SAFE's current
corporate supporters and the launch of a new program called,
'Member Profiles: Getting to Know Our Aviation Educators'.
According to SAFE President Doug Stewart, "Since our inception,
we've felt that the SAFE website must become our flagship product,
the central source of information for our members and others in
aviation." He added, "Although we still have a long way to go to
fulfill our vision for the site, we've been very pleased with the
results so far." SAFE has hired a professional webmaster to
facilitiate the changes.
Stewart continued, "Acknowledging our growing list of corporate
partners on the website demonstrates our commitment to fostering
win-win relationships." In less than six months, SAFE has
cultivated thirteen such partnerships. Four of those partners--ASA,
Gleim, Jeppesen, and Sporty's--are offering an added incentive for
people who join SAFE during AirVenture.
Member Profiles is another new web-based benefit initiated by
SAFE. Communications Committee Chair Ken Wittekiend explained, "We
want people to get to know who we are and to appreciate the real
depth of talent within our ranks." He added, "Showcasing these
profiles on our website provides another avenue for members to
promote themselves and their expertise. It also allows us to build
a unique member directory." Jeanne MacPherson of Helena, MT was the
inaugural member profiled on the SAFE website. Aside from being a
Master Instructor, MacPherson received the EAA's top honor in 2003:
the Freedom of Flight Award for flying more than 3,400 Young
Eagles. "Jeanne is typical of the caliber of our membership,"
Wittekiend said. A member profile questionnaire is available for
download on the organization's website.
