First Project In Airport Experience Program Begins In July
Officials at Lambert-St. Louis
International Airport have selected the first round of design
consultants for the field's major renovation campaign, called the
Airport Experience Program. The renovations will modernize and
restore the Main Terminal and concourses to improve airport
functions and improve the overall passenger experience.
Proposed improvements include restoring the terminal's domed
ceilings; replacing inbound baggage claim systems; overhauling
Lambert's roadway sign program; modernizing ticket counter
operations; constructing new restrooms, upgrading security
screening checkpoints, installing new floor, ceiling and wall
finishes; improving passenger circulation areas and adding new
restaurants and other concessions.
Selected Consultants include:
- Kwame Building Group of St. Louis: Program Management.
- Teng & Associates, Inc. of St. Louis: Dome renovations
design, Main Terminal Ticketing Hall Main Terminal Ticketing Hall
and Mid-Level architectural renovations design; Concourses
Architectural Renovations design.
- Kozeny-Wagner, Inc. of St. Louis: In-bound conveyers and
baggage claims design/build.
- Apple Designs, Inc. of Raleigh North Carolina: Entrance
monuments and wayfinding signage design.
- Burns and McDonnell of St. Louis (Office): Main Terminal
Ticketing Hall and Mid-Level Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and
Special Systems (MEPSS) Renovations design; Concourses Mechanical,
Electrical, Plumbing and Special Systems (MEPSS) Renovations
design.
The first project is the restoration of Lambert's historic domed
ceilings which is scheduled to begin in mid-July. Replacement of
the in-bound baggage system and Wayfinding signage projects will
begin early 2009.
The other proposed projects will start after completion of their
respective design phases. Lambert will make a formal announcement
about the first projects in the Airport Experience Program in
July.
