November Is Aviation Appreciation Month In Texas

Governor Rick Perry Recognizes Commercial And General Aviation In Proclamation

Texas Governor Rick Perry has proclaimed November 2014 to be Aviation Appreciation Month in the state of Texas.

The Governor (pictured in file photo) says that general aviation and commercial aviation support hundreds of thousands of jobs in the state. The 51,000 certified pilots and more than 19,400 active aircraft flying the Texas skies contribute $59.5 billion to the state's economy.

In announcing the official proclamation, Perry said that the Texas aviation industry is critical to the state's economy and to our way of life.

"Individuals, families, businesses and government agencies rely on air transportation to get from place to place, move cargo, keep our borders secure, control wildfires, support agriculture and perform many other critical functions," Perry said. "Many Texas and national aviation organizations designate the month of November as a time to acknowledge the importance of aviation to our society. At this time, I encourage all Texans to learn more about aviation in our state and to recognize the contributions of the hard-working professionals who support all sectors of this vital industry."
