Unique Helicopter Airshow Returns To Georgia

American Heroes Air Show Includes Citizenship Ceremony

The American Heroes Air Show calls itself the US's premier aviation event devoted exclusively to helicopters. The show returns to Canton, Georgia, outside Atlanta, on Saturday, September 10th.

Event Director Mike Grier, a sergeant with Cherokee County Sheriff, invites families to get an up-close look at these go-fast, high-tech aircraft and learn how their crews are on the front lines every day of homeland security, national defense and public service.

The admission-free event invites helicopters from local, regional, state and US Military operators. Grier hopes to bring together a broad section of the community to meet the crews and get an up-close and personal look at the role helicopters play in public safety. He observes, "Often when we come in contact with someone it is when they are having what may be the worst day of their lives. This air show provides the public with a unique chance to spend time with the crews and learn about their mission and capabilities - that gives me a great feeling."

The event also offers the "American Anthem" presentation, which invites the community to participate in a ceremony as serving military members recite their Oath of Allegiance and become US Citizens. Grier says he has been working for months with the team from US Citizenship and Immigration Services on the scheduling and presentation details. "This will be a memorable way for our community to honor and respect those serving in our military," he says.

The naturalization ceremony is scheduled for 1100 and the public is invited to attend.

The event also features the popular CODE1 Career Fair which offers the community a rare chance to meet recruiting teams from law enforcement, public safety, government service, volunteer agencies and the military who are on-scene to profile their missions and provide information on hiring, training and the application process.

A long tradition at American Heroes Air Shows around the country, collectible event trading cards are available and free in limited quantities to early bird arrivals. These very popular trading cards feature photos of participating aircraft plus flight performance and mission profiles.
