Recognized For Innovation, Revenue, And Employee Growth
Nevada’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology (NCET) has recognized Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) as the 2014 "Aerospace Company of the Year" for its innovation, revenue and employee growth in the aerospace industry. SNC was honored at the NCET/RGJ Awards Dinner by Master of Ceremonies, Lt. Governor Brian K. Krolicki on Thursday, March 27, 2014. Stan MacDonald, SNC’s vice president of technology, who has been with the company for 35 years, accepted the award for SNC.
Since 2008, NCET Technology Awards have celebrated individuals and companies who have greatly enhanced the growth and prestige of Northern Nevada’s technology community, recognizing outstanding leaders at all levels of business.
"It is truly an honor for SNC and our employees to be recognized by NCET and the community for the work we do in the aerospace sector," said SNC’s President, Eren Ozmen. "SNC prides itself on finding agile and innovative technology solutions to meet our customer’s widely diverse and technical needs. Our employees are an extremely talented team of engineers, scientists and technical personnel who continue to exceed what’s possible in the areas of aerospace and aviation."
SNC was one of eight companies nominated in this year’s new aerospace category. Headquartered in Sparks, NV, the significant programs SNC performs include the Dream Chaser spacecraft, a replacement to the space shuttle; Radar Enhanced Vision System (REVS), which helps pilots see through degraded visual environments such as fog, snow and smoke during take-off and landing; Telemedicine, a system to capture and communicate patient data across a broad spectrum of environments, including trauma scenes; and an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Detect and Avoid System, a critical capability to operate UAVs safely in the national air space.
