Rolls-Royce Trent 700 Engines Worth $140M Selected By Lion Air

Indonesian Carrier Is A New Customer For The Engines

Rolls-Royce has been selected by Indonesian airline Lion Air to supply Trent 700 engines worth $140 million at list prices, to power three Airbus A330ceo aircraft.

This is the first time that Lion Air has selected Rolls-Royce engines.

A celebration ceremony to mark the selection, held at Soekarno-Hatta International airport, was attended by: Rudy Lumingkewas, Lion Air Chief Executive Officer; Adrian Short, Rolls-Royce Regional Director – Indonesia; UK Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond; Ignatius Jonan, Indonesian Minister for Transport; and Laurent Godin, Airbus, President Director PT Airbus Group Indonesia and Jean-Francois Laval, Airbus, Executive Vice President Asia.

"We have been impressed with the Trent 700's performance record, and after a thorough evaluation of our options, the engine was the natural choice for this important fleet expansion," said Rusdi Kirana, Lion Group, Chief Executive Officer.

Rolls-Royce says the Trent 700 delivers the best fuel burn, emissions and noise performance, resulting in market leadership on the aircraft. The engine has won more than 60 per cent of new orders over the last three years and accounts for a similar percentage on future A330ceo deliveries.  More than 1,500 Trent 700s are now in service or on firm order, making it the largest in-service Trent engine.
