Sustainable Fuels Loaded up in Game Area Airports, With Carbon Credits On Tap
Avfuel Network has announced the requisition of sustainable aviation fuel for those airports operated in conjunction with their fuel network in close proximity to the game's SoFi Stadium.
Those customers looking to defray the environmental impact of their flight to the Bowl can refuel at Million Air Burbank (KBUR), ACI Jet-Orange County (KSNA) and Castle & Cooke Aviation (KVNY). Should operators desire, a carbon offset program adds an additional per-gallon fee to purchase carbon credits that invest in green projects. Each credit purchased is said to offset nearly 100 gallons of jet fuel.
The first 2 of those airports retains consistent inventory of Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel year-round, with Castle maintaining a special SAF stock for the event. Avfuel says it expects at least 7 truckloads of SAF - or 56,000 gallons of gas - between the airports throughout the event, with additional loads on tap in case demand briefly outstrips supply.
The use of specially created SAF is the most effective way to reduce a flight's carbon footprint, a valuable aspect of high profile business aviation when passengers are often those squarely in the public eye. Those 7 truckloads will provide a 133 metric ton reduction in carbon emissions when compared to new petroleum-based JetA, the equivalent of zeroing out the emissions from almost 30 passenger vehicles for one year. In the future, Avfuel says, "SAF could deliver up to 80% less greenhouse gas emissions over its lifecycle versus traditional jet fuel if used in its neat, concentrated form."
Keith Sawyer, Avfuel’s manager of alternative fuels, said, “We are proud to collaborate with our branded FBO partners and Neste to provide operators with accessible options for fueling with SAF during one of the year’s largest events. The emissions reductions SAF provides are real and immediate, and will help sustainably-minded operators fuel up in a way that aligns with their corporate social responsibility goals.”
