Six Rescued After DHC-2 Goes Down In Alaska

Five people are hospitalized -- two in serious condition -- after a DeHavilland DHC-2 Turbo Beaver went down in the waters of Alaska's Hallo Bay on Monday.

The aircraft (file photo of type, above) was traveling about 75-miles northwest of Kodiak when something went wrong... and the Andrews Airways plane ended up in the water.

Local news reports say the pilot was able to use a satellite phone to call Andrews for help. Two Coast Guard helos and a C-130 swooped in and rescued all six victims.

One was released from Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center almost right away. The others are being treated for hypothermia and other injuries.
